Excellent Naration of personal experience As for the disadvantages I think all authors of meditation books should have a technique summary in a step wise fashion and as katsu,i most books it trainign not available so I really cannot blame the author This is a book for novice and advanced practitioner as this is a book that you will read and re-read many times if you recognize the wisdom in it.
This book left me knowing less than I started out with as well, but I feel good about it, feel very zen and emptied by it.

Just don’t get attached to the experiences. Do you believe that this item violates a copyright? I katsukj the good fortune to study with Katsuki Sekida at the Maui Zendo in the early ’70s. This first half did allude to encountering “pure existence” when one is mature in their practice of meditation, but that read like new-age spirituality and it didn’t make sense.

It also really inspired me and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to read a solid book on Zen. It took an introductory session at a local zendo to accomplish that. It was a heavy read, at times plodding – and yet I’m glad to have had the chance to read it.
